Marco’s Grill & Deli Turns Fifteen
 Fifteen years ago Marco’s Grill & Deli opened its doors and began building their reputation as a place for high quality Italian food, good prices and great service. Situated on what has become one of Maui’s busiest intersections, this establishment has grown to be a Central Maui landmark, and a favorite of both locals and visitors. For owner-operator Marco DeFanis, the journey to success began when on a family vacation to Maui from Philadelphia. He noticed that most restaurants had lines of hungry customers that stretched out the door. Feeling that he had found his niche, he returned home, and then made the move to Maui. "We filled up our salt and pepper shakers April 14th," Marco recalls. But, because his birthday was the 16th they decided to push back the opening until the 17th and the rest is history; they have been going strong ever since. Marco’s is open 7 days a week, for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with the exception of Christmas. The knowledgeable staff, some from the original crew, is always ready to guide you through your dining experience.
The "East Coast Italian" style menu is based on recipes he began to pick up as a 12 year old, working in a butcher and catering shop back in Philadelphia; when he got a little older, one of his duties was to teach green-to-the-kitchen newlyweds how to season and prepare roasts. Those years of practice are showcased in the restaurants expansive menu, where everything from the sausage to the salad dressing is homemade.
 Sample some house-made sausage in the Italian Sausage & Linguini, or try the homemade Ravioli, stuffed with prosciutto, garlic and two kinds of cheese. The highly recommended House Specialty, Vodka Rigatoni is made with imported prosciutto, garlic, and a cream and tomato sauce, Romano and mozzarella cheeses. There are also choices like classic Veal Parmigiano, Rib Eye Steak and a variety of pizzas. For dessert, the homemade Tiramisu is outstanding, combine that with a cup of their signature Marco’s Blend coffee and you have the perfect end to any meal. The restaurant also has a full bar. For breakfast, Marco’s has something for everyone. There is everything from New York Steak & Eggs, to Chocolate Cinnamon French Toast and five different kinds of pancakes for the kids. Lunch features a huge assortment of hot and cold sandwiches. The Reuben and Hot Pastrami are made from gourmet meats flown in from Philadelphia. There are also a number of vegetarian selections.
Marco’s is conveniently located, and hard to miss with its dark green awnings; so whether you are on your way to the airport, on your lunch-break, or need a break from a day of errands, or maybe just looking for a nice meal, stop in and enjoy, or pick up, some great food in a friendly atmosphere. Judging from this eatery’s long-standing commitment to quality, service, and its loyal clientele, Marco’s Grill & Deli isn’t going anywhere.
