An Off-the-beaten-path Discovery
The Sea House Restaurant at Napili Kai Beach Resort is one of those
off-the-beaten path, out-of-the-way discoveries that you talk about
long after you’re back home. Located just steps away from the water on
beautiful Napili Bay, this charming restaurant exudes tropical
splendor, from the tiki torches that light up the bay to the Hawaiian
music that fills the fragrant night air. This is a picture straight out
of a postcard, the kind of scene that dreams are made of.
The comfortable dining area is open to the gentle breeze and creates a
cozy atmosphere in which to enjoy the culinary delights of the Sea
House’s award-winning Executive Chef, Craig Erickson.
A native of Chicago, Erickson has been working in restaurants since the
age of 13 and has achieved the level of CEC (Certified Executive Chef)
through the American Culinary Federation. Most recently, he held the
position of Executive Chef at the Lahaina Store Grille & Oyster Bar
on Front Street in Lahaina. Previously he was Executive Chef at Bubba
Gump Shrimp Co. in Lahaina; Corporate Executive Chef for 23 Gordon
Biersch Brewery Restaurants, with headquarters based in Las Vegas;
Executive Kitchen Manager for three Rainforest Cafe restaurants, Las
Vegas; and Chef De Cuisine for Bismarck Catering, overseeing culinary
operations for Chicago Stadium and United Center in Chicago.
Needless
to say that dining at the Sea House is a special occasion in and of
itself, but depending on which night you choose to dine, you will find
a unique nightly special. Monday and Wednesday are Prime Rib nights,
Tuesday and Friday are Alaskan King Crab nights, Saturday and Sunday
are Surf & Turf nights, and on Thursday night the special is a Cold
Water Lobster Tail, oven roasted to perfection and served with drawn
butter.
Their Whale Watcher’s Bar is the perfect place to spend the day or
begin your evening. Kick back and enjoy delicious pupus and traditional
to tropical libations as you watch the sun set in a blaze in the
Pacific.
Besides enjoying a singularly fine-dining experience, one of the most
charming things about the Sea House is that it is one of those little
“out of the way” places you dream of finding. They are located just off
Honoapiilani Road in Napili where you will find the signs for parking.
Follow the paths that wind through the resort to the ocean and look for
the flags.
Reservations for dinner are recommended. This is also a great location
for breakfast or lunch. (They are now open for breakfast at 7:00am so
you can enjoy breakfast on the bay.) See if you don’t feel as I do,
that this is a great “find.”
